Milton Keynes Art Club

Michael offers engaging and creative workshops, teaching children to express themselves through guided and independent drawing exercises. Children are also encouraged to display their work and provide productive feedback to their peers , helping them to build confidence while developing their creative analytical skills.

 

To deliver these workshops, Michael has partnered with The Best Western Moore Place Hotel in Milton Keynes. The hotel, which is located in Aspen Guise, are kindly offering their conference room for Michael to use for free on selected Sundays. 

The Workshops will last from 45 – 120 minutes and will cater to age groups 3–5, 6–8 and 9–12. Each workshop will be limited to a maximum of 15 participants so early booking is strongly recommended. Parents are welcome to supervise their children during the workshop or relax in the nearby hotel bar with a tea or coffee and snacks.

The Art Clubs

Caricature Drawing Club

Michael’s caricature drawing club is engaging and creative, teaching participants how to draw facial features and create caricatures step-by-step. The club includes an exciting drawing challenge, where children sketch a chosen person expertly guided by Michael. Children are then Encouraged to show their work and receive positive feedback from others, helping to build confidence and develop critique skills. Finally, one participant will be selected at random for a live caricature drawn by Michael which they will be able to take home after the session.

Word Sketch Club

The Word Sketch workshop aims to spark creativity through guided and independent sketching. With Michael’s demonstrations and word prompts, children will generate visual ideas while learning to think outside the box. They will then create artwork based on their own chosen words before showcasing their drawings to the other participants. The session will conclude with a feedback session where participants will be invited to offer constructive feedback on each other's work.

Puppet Show Club

Michael's Puppet Show workshop is a fun and engaging experience suitable for all ages. In this hands-on workshop, Michael guides participants through the creative process of designing and crafting their own unique sock puppets, using a variety of materials to bring their characters to life. Once the puppets are made, participants will work together to build a small stage for their puppet show, adding their own artistic touches to create a vibrant performance space. The workshop concludes with an exciting opportunity for children to showcase their puppets in a live performance, encouraging creativity, teamwork, and confidence as they bring their stories and characters to life on stage.

Stop-motion Animation Club

The Stop Motion Workshop is a fun and interactive experience designed for children who are curious about cartoons, animation and films. Participants will work together, taking on different roles based on their strengths—some may focus on creating characters, while others handle the photography of scenes for the animation. Children will be able to build  teamwork, and problem-solving skills while learning the basics of stop-motion animation. By the end, they will have collaborated to create their own unique group animation.

 

 

In order to make the workshops as accessible as possible, there will be no set price for the sessions. Instead, parents that are able to, are encouraged to make donations to help Michael cover the cost of materials.​

IS Michael DBS Checked?

Yes, Michael has a clear up to date DBS certificate issued on the 14th January 2025.

Are the clubs really free?

Yes , Even if no one is able to donate, Michael will still run the art clubs.

Michael wants to make the clubs accessible to as many children as possible regardless of their circumstances. Parents that are able to buy a ticket are encouraged to do so as this does help Michael cover the cost of materials and keep the workshops running. ​

Where are the Art Clubs held?

Our Art clubs are held at the Best Western Moore Hotel, Milton Keynes, MK17 8DW.

The Hotel offer free parking to all art club attendees. There a bar where parents can enjoy a coffee or tea and snacks while they wait for their children.

Does my child need to bring anything to the workshop?

All they need to bring is a creative spirit and a respectful attitude towards other children, Michael and the hotel staff. Michael will provide everything else they need for the workshop. ​​

Can I bring More than one of my children to the Art Club? 

Yes, you can bring multiple children, but each child must attend the club for their specific age group. For example, a 4-year-old can join the 3–5 years club, while a 7-year-old can attend the 6–8 years club.

How can we support the Children Art Clubs?

Buy a ticket for your child if you are able to. You can also support Michael by spreading the word about Mkcaricatures' services. Posts about MKcaricatures on Social media are really appreciated. 

Can you do an art club at my child's school?

Yes schools can book Michael for a one off  art workshops. Please see our Drawing Workshops page for details.
